One time when I was at an all time low, a friend of mine told me that according to the great Indian spiritual teacher Krishnamurti, the secret to enlightenment and true happiness is “I don’t mind.” My whole being shouted “NO!!!!!” This couldn’t be the secret because I still desperately wanted so many things, including to happy.
This morning I spoke to one of my best friends who life has handed one struggle after the next to. She is one of the strongest people I know as she has learned to navigate some pretty tough waters. When I asked her what she wanted next, she said, “ I’m fine with whatever happens at this point,” her beauty beaming through skype on my computer, “I just don’t care anymore.”
I laughed and said, “Omg! I know exactly what you mean!”
Perhaps that is the real power of life on Earth. It gives us the opportunity to purge all of those places where we resist life and are stuck grasping for something other than this perfect NOW. Life beckons us to stop judging it as good or bad and to say yes to the divine plan, which is full of ups and downs that are perfectly designed just for us. Life rips us to shreds until we give up and find the real source of our happiness, which the power that is always just right here regardless of what is happening on the outside.
The human mind wants all to be perfect all of the time. The true Self knows that it is despite the resistance of the mind.
This doesn’t mean that we don’t set goals and desire certain things in life. It’s just that when we no longer MIND what is happening, life becomes more of a game. We get more of what we want without having to work so damn hard to “make it happen.” The bumps don’t hurt so much and life flows through us. We feel grateful for whatever comes our way, cause it’s all awesome and somehow just what we need.
